Do I need Update Authority to change metadata?

Yes. You can only update metadata if your wallet holds the Update Authority for the token. If you've already made your token immutable, metadata cannot be changed — ever.

Will updating metadata affect my token's trading or liquidity?

No. Updating metadata only changes the display information (name, symbol, image, description). It does not affect your token's contract address, supply, liquidity pools, or any on-chain functionality. Trading continues normally.
