Common Solana rug-pull red flags

These are the on-chain signals the Rug Check looks for. Any one of them is a reason to dig deeper before you buy.

High risk

Mint authority is still active

The creator can mint unlimited new tokens at any time, diluting every holder. Safe tokens revoke it.

High risk

Freeze authority is still active

Whoever holds it can freeze your wallet so you are unable to sell. Look for tokens that have revoked it.

High risk

Liquidity is not burned or locked

If the LP tokens are not burned or locked, the team can pull the liquidity and the token becomes worthless instantly.

High risk

Supply concentrated in a few wallets

When the top holders own most of the supply, they can dump on the market and tank the price.

Caution

Very low liquidity

Thin liquidity means a single sell can crash the price, and it is cheap for bad actors to manipulate.

Caution

Only a few liquidity providers

When liquidity comes from one or two wallets, they control the pool and can exit together.

Caution

Metadata is still mutable

Mutable metadata lets the creator change the name, symbol, or image after launch, a common bait-and-switch.

How to check if a Solana token is a rug pull

Before buying any Solana token, it pays to check a handful of on-chain signals. Smithii Rug Check reads them automatically: whether the mint and freeze authorities are revoked, whether the metadata is still mutable, how much liquidity the token has, whether the liquidity-pool tokens are burned or locked, how many liquidity providers there are, and how concentrated the supply is among the top holders.

Each of these is a known rug-pull or honeypot vector. A token can still be risky even when one signal looks fine, which is why the Rug Check combines them into a single Good, Caution, or Danger score you can read at a glance, with no wallet connection and no on-chain expertise required.

What to do after a Rug Check

Launching your own token? Build trust the same way buyers verify it: revoke authorities at creation with the Token Creator, and lock liquidity when you create your liquidity pool.
