An OpenBook Market ID is an on-chain order book that Raydium's Standard AMM (v2) pools require to function. It acts as the underlying trading infrastructure that connects your token to the Raydium ecosystem. If you're creating a CPMM (v3) or CLMM pool on Raydium, you do not need an OpenBook Market ID. It's only required for the classic Standard AMM pool type.

Only if you're using Raydium Standard AMM (v2). The newer pool types, CPMM and CLMM, do not require a Market ID, making them cheaper and faster to set up. If you're launching a new token and cost is a concern, consider using CPMM (v3) instead.

Creating an OpenBook Market ID on Smithii costs approximately 1-3 SOL, depending on the parameters you choose (minimum order size, tick size, queue lengths). This is competitive with other market creators. Some platforms charge up to 4 SOL for the same service. The exact cost is displayed before you confirm the transaction.

For most token launches, use the default values. They are optimized for standard use cases. The key parameters are Minimum Order Size, Tick Size, and queue lengths. Smaller queue sizes reduce cost but may limit trading throughput. For memecoins and standard token launches, the defaults work perfectly.

Creating an OpenBook Market ID is a single on-chain transaction. It typically takes a few seconds to confirm on Solana. Once created, you can immediately use the Market ID to create your Standard AMM pool on Raydium.

The next step is to create your liquidity pool. Go to the Liquidity Pool Creator, select Standard AMM (v2), and paste your new Market ID. Set your initial token price, add liquidity, and your token will be live for trading. If you haven't created your token yet, start with the Token Creator first.

How to Create an OpenBook Market ID on Solana

An OpenBook Market ID is required before you can create a Raydium Standard AMM (v2) liquidity pool for your token. It establishes the on-chain order book that Raydium uses as its price oracle. Without a Market ID, your token cannot be traded on a v2 pool.

Smithii's Market Creator lets you configure the market parameters (base lot size, quote lot size and event queue length) to optimize for your token's expected trading volume. Shorter queue lengths reduce the creation cost significantly.

Market creation costs vary based on configuration: a minimal market costs ~0.3 SOL in rent, while a full-size market can cost ~2.8 SOL. The tool shows the exact cost before you confirm.

From Market ID to Live Trading

After creating your Market ID, the next step is to create a liquidity pool on Raydium using that Market ID. Set your initial price and deposit both tokens to start trading. You can then add more liquidity later to reduce slippage.

If you haven't created your token yet, start with the Token Creator and revoke Mint Authority before setting up the market.
