Wrap & Unwrap BNB
BNB Chain Wrapper
BNB Chain Wrapper: turn BNB into WBNB and back in one transaction. WBNB is what PancakeSwap pools and routers hold.
How to use the BNB Chain Wrapper
- Connect your BNB Chain wallet
- Choose Wrap (BNB to WBNB) or Unwrap (WBNB to BNB)
- Enter the amount you want to convert
- Confirm the fee transaction and then the wrap transaction
- Your WBNB (or BNB) is updated within seconds
Benefits of Wrapper
One transaction
send BNB, receive WBNB, or the other way round
Always one for one
the wrapper holds your BNB and issues the same amount
Any amount
wrap what a single trade needs, unwrap part of it later
What contracts expect
PancakeSwap pools and DeFi protocols hold WBNB, not BNB
Nothing custodial
the wrapper contract holds it and you redeem whenever you want
No coding
no router call to compose and no contract to interact with by hand

Not through the interface, which wraps for you. You need it when you deal with a contract directly: adding liquidity yourself, using a protocol that takes ERC-20 deposits, or anything that expects an approval.
It deposits your BNB into the wrapper contract, which issues you the same amount of WBNB, an ERC-20. Unwrapping returns the BNB and burns the WBNB. The rate is one for one in both directions and there is no lock-up.
Because BNB is the network currency and not a token: it has no transfer or approve function for a contract to call. Anything written against the ERC-20 standard needs WBNB instead, which is most of DeFi.
Yes, any amount at any time. The rest stays wrapped and usable.
The wrapper is one of the most used contracts on any EVM chain and does one thing: hold BNB and issue WBNB against it. Your claim is the WBNB in your wallet, redeemable whenever you want.
A small fee shown before you sign, plus BNB Chain gas. The conversion never takes a cut: what goes in comes out.
WBNB is what the pools hold
Every PancakeSwap pair that looks like it trades against BNB is really trading against WBNB, because a pool holds ERC-20 balances and BNB is not one. The router wraps and unwraps around your swap so you never see it, but the moment you interact with a contract directly, you need the wrapped version yourself.
